In the afterlife symbology, the Egyptian god Anubius had a dog head and Cerberus, the guardian of Hell, was a dog with three heads. In classical times, Asclepius and Hermes were accompanied by dogs, that were guides for souls of Hell and guardians of houses. In medieval times, the dog was the symbol of faith and loyalty and his figure was reproduced on many graves.
